Traceroute
Trace network paths and analyze route performance

help_outline Understanding Traceroute
How Traceroute Works
Traceroute determines the route taken by packets across an IP network by incrementally increasing the time-to-live (TTL) field of IP packet headers.
Interpreting Results
- router Each hop represents a router in the network path
- speed Latency increases with distance and network load
- warning High latency or packet loss indicates network issues
- language Hostnames show network provider information
Common Network Types
Local Network
Your router and local gateway (1-3ms)
ISP Network
Internet Service Provider routers (10-50ms)
Backbone
Major internet infrastructure (50-150ms)

Performance Tips:
- • Lower latency indicates better performance
- • Consistent latency shows stable connection
- • Packet loss over 5% may indicate problems
- • Multiple routes show network redundancy
